D-List BlogHer Meetup

Published by dlister at 8:05 pm under BlogHer

Ah yes, the moment we’ve all been waiting for… when all of us nervous-as-heck-we-won’t-have-anyone-to-sit-with-at-lunch-bloggers can get together in peon heaven.

Our D-List meetup at BlogHer. (Sorry to those who won’t be there, but we’ll be sure to bring you back at least one more reader.)

… drumroll…

Ok, so it’s not that exciting, but Alma and I thought since, well, we don’t have any sponsors, budget, suites, lounges or rooms to congregate in, the least we can do is pitch a sign at a table during breakfast and hope ya’ll show.

So we’ll be there with our D-List banner blazing, with *hopefully* some wearable for you to display proudly throughout the event. (I’m sure Tim Gunn will appreciate our outfit accessories.)

D-Listers unite in person!

p.s. oh look how smart those BlogHers are!  A newbie breakfast! See ya at lunchtime then…

I’ve gotta admit, I’m curious, and slightly confused. If you don’t care about getting sponsors and all that, why would you go to Blogher? Honestly, I’m not trying to sound snotty or anything (I really hope it’s not coming across that way), but I don’t understand the motivation to go.

I am so all over this — I am very D list!!

Wendy- I’m sure a lot of people go to promote their wares, but BlogHer for me is just to reconnect with some familiar faces and learn more about the blogosphere. And, it’s a good excuse to get out of the house for some adult- only time. :)

BlogHer isn’t just about monetizing your blog. It’s also about learning technical tricks, improving your writing skills and drinking lots and lots of cocktails with women you’ve never met in person but about whom you know WAY too much personal information.

Wendy, that surprises me that BlogHer would be viewed like that. (And is totally ok! I am just surprised at this perception.) Even if I wasn’t sponsored, I’d totally be going. My MAIN reason for going this year is just to hang out with my friends! -Many that I’ve never met before in real life. It’s a community that I feel so involved in and am so excited to be a part of. Last year’s BlogHer was so wonderful, and was NOT about monetizing my blog or establishing PR relationships or anything like that for me. It was all about socializing and learning new things about this great big blogging world we live in.

Thank you all for the reason and perspectives about going to BlogHer. Connecting with familiar people (even if you’ve never met them face to face before), that’s something I can understand. I dare say that if I weren’t pregnant and the shyest person on the planet I’d probably be interested if I had the money (and someone to watch the kids for me!)

Steph, my perception really wasn’t that hard to come to. Every blog I’ve seen that mentions BlogHer (and trust me, I’m talking about a LOT of blogs) talks about sponsorship, PR, advertising and promotion. Between that and almost every other post being an ad campaign, I’ve been hard pressed to find any moms just talking about being moms.

Don’t mind me, though…I’m two weeks from being due, and the emotional roller-coaster is having its way with me. ;)

Did some people get an actual invite? Because that would mean I’m on the F-list. Or the CN list for Complete Nobody.

I’m passing around gourmet lollipops at BlogHer from a local, woman owned company and I’m not even getting paid for it! Sponsor, shmonsor. Am I a sucker for passing these along at no charge? Or maybe I’m all old skool nice.

How do I get a mention on your sidebar?

#kim: nice NEVER goes out of style. That sounds like something I would get roped into…but I say if you don’t mind why not help someone out?

    So lunchtime on Friday? Cool

And in the meantime, please know that the luncheon at Dick’s is very chic and very d-list!

@Kim A sucker for handing out suckers? Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

  11. dlisteron 15 Jul 2009 at 5:14 pm

Kim- invites? D-listers don’t have the funds for real invites. This is it- spread the word! :)

Wish i could be there. *boo hoo* Someone draw a stick figure of me if you don’t mind. And if you really, really don’t mind take a pic and post it. I’d like to know that my stick figure had fun…don’t let her drink, once she gets going…well, I just don’t want to go there…
